Why your adjuster and your roofer see different roofs
An adjuster is not your opponent. They are scoping their ninth roof that day, working from a software template, on a schedule that gives them roughly forty minutes at your house.
A roofer walking the same roof is answering a different question. The adjuster is asking what storm damage is documented here. The roofer is asking what this roof needs to be watertight for twenty years. Those overlap, but they are not the same list, and the gap is where most disputes live.
The gap is also usually resolvable, because most short scopes are omissions rather than denials. A back slope that did not get walked. Ridge cap counted as ordinary shingles. Drip edge left off entirely when code requires it. Flashing priced as reusable when it will not come off in one piece.
The way you close the gap is with photographs taken before anybody filed anything, and a supplement that points at specific line items rather than arguing about the total. That is a paperwork exercise, not a fight, and it works far more often than people expect.
